Today I stopped by Clothes Horse to look at jewellery for a photoshoot. Merle always has really interesting pieces: my husband bought me a leather and mink necklace, apparently from Russia, for my birthday.
I am loving this lovebird vintage enamel brooch. So heavy–the metal cast is really thick– hand-painted, and the animal motif is right on trend (she also had a parrot and a spider).
Those pretty little floral pieces are called lingerie jewellery: Apparently it was a trend during the 1920s and ’30s to wear pretty pins, chokers, etc., with your slip, or lingerie. I love the idea of hiding beauty where only you (and a lucky other, perhaps) can enjoy it.
